☠️ Revok Records are proud to announce: "Nu Gag" an EP by French producer Pierre Berge-Cia.

Pierre draws on his influences from across musical spectrums such as noise and punk, then expertly combines them with field recordings and hard hitting dance floor sensibilities. The ultimate expression of this new wave sound is found in title track Nu Gag, which also features the dark sirenic vocals of Deaths Head.

Writing about his release Pierre told us the following:

The idea behind this project was to establish a coherent universe with very different tracks. To create this homogeneity, I used very few hardware tools (Elektron Digitone, Teac V-1030, Mackie CR1604) alongside a limited number of VSTs.

The EP can be separated in two parts that are intertwined.
The first is composed of “Mode” and the eponymous track : “Nu Gag”. Both of these productions are complex in terms of arrangement, with a significant amount of layers. They are made with a specific intent : blend genres that are dear to me. “Mode” is a fusion of breakbeat and EBM. “Nu Gag” is produced with elements from noise, punk and industrial techno.
The second part includes “Aus” and “Stug”. Both of these tracks are designed to be straightforward, with a consistent intensity throughout. Here, I wanted to put forward productions that are both tools and standalone tracks. As you could have guessed, the second part is mainly aimed at DJs. “Aus” is an homage to old school EBM and trance. I believe producers like Thomas P. Heckmann or Eric Sneo influenced me unconsciously. “Stug” is largely constructed from field recordings (the snare is sampled from a toaster, for example). I shaped it to be the last track of the EP. The “organic” feel it has creates a sort of “return to reality”, as opposed to the two first tracks that are rather abstract.

The four track project evolves to be progressively darker. The EP follows the plot of a typical story : conflict / rising action / climax / resolution. I skipped the introductory “exposition” part to give the project a strong start straight away. The intensity culminates at “Nu Gag'' and resolves with ''Stug”. As assumed previously, each track has its own role and purpose, but can be listened to independently.

The considerable creative freedom I benefited during this EP’s production has been guaranteed by Revok records’ team, which I thank dearly for their time, patience and precious guidance.
