about

It is with great pleasure we announce the launch of our latest release, a 7 track EP by Acid Replika: "Privacy Invasion"

featuring the vocals and lyrics of our co-founder Keik-Ö [Keiko Owada].

We think that Acid Replika bring a new and exciting dimension to the sound of Industrial Techno by setting the scifi informed lyrics and bittersweet disembodied vocals of Keik-Ö to a backdrop of unapologetically raw and hard hitting beats.

An outstanding set of remixes by Alpha Sect, Arkhan, Kirril and Lesser Of round out this release, taking the words and music of the original tracks in fascinating directions.

Keik-Ö writing about the songs on this release:

“Privacy Invasion is about paranoid states of our life, inspired by the Big Brother world we live in, everyone is curious about you and wants to know what you do / where you go / who you know, and people can track you via security cameras, mobile apps, web browsing, internet shopping and social media.

I wrote Meltdown (Roshin Yukai in Japanese) after the 2011 devastating tsunami incident in Japan, my home country, that caused the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. This song wasn’t particularly about that incident but about the danger of nuclear accidents in general. I’ve always been aware that such fear exists but we have no choice but to live with it, and every time we build a nuclear plant we must ask ourselves “Are we ready to live with it?”

Second Life, the title borrowed from the famous MMORPG, is about escapism in an online virtual world. You make mistakes in real life as you grow up and it’s very hard to correct them, while in a virtual world it’s easy to create a new avatar, to grow and live as you like, then if you make mistakes you can erase it and reset your life again. The satisfaction from being successful in the virtual reality world is as satisfying as being successful in real life, and the question is, which life do you consider more important?”
